celebrating autumn

, ,

It seemed like a hot summer here in London – hot for us anyway. So the autumnal chill in the air is very welcome. The garden is still confused though, with hollyhocks and asters (or have they changed their name?) flowering together while leaves change colour. But this is my favourite time of year.

I have hastily made a crochet autumn wreath while watching episodes of Hunted. A new favourite show for our family.

Granny baby

This is my first attempt to blog from my kindle! So far so good. A good friend is expecting her first baby in three weeks time so I have been making a baby blanket. It’s a granny square made with Sirdar Crofter baby fair isle effect. It’s a lovely, soft, multicolored yarn. So far I really like the effect of the different colours. I hope the new mum and dad like it! IMG_0060

SAM_1885A flower collage is a simple and colourful craft that can be made by toddlers and older children. If making with toddlers I would omit using buttons.

The flower shapes are from hobbycraft. There are 16 in a pack. The buttons and tissue paper and assorted scraps of paper I have collected over time and stored in jam jars. A few shiny stars found their way onto the flower too.

You can punch a hole and add string – a flower decoration to hurry up spring!
